When configuring campaign targeting at the Ad Server level, you can fine-tune your Bundle ID (and not only them) lists using the Include/Exclude radio button. This article explains how the two options interact with the selected Filter Type and the additional bundles you specify.
How It Works
The targeting section has three controls that work together:
- Filter Type - White or Block (the main targeting rule)
- List - the global Bundle ID list you want to apply
- Additional Bundle IDs + Include/Exclude - overrides for the list above
The Additional Bundle IDs field and the Include/Exclude radio button let you add exceptions to a global list without creating a new list every time.
Four Scenarios
Block + Include
Additional bundles are added to the block list. They get blocked along with everything in the main list.
Example: Your Block list "Gaming Apps" already blocks com.king.candycrush and com.supercell.clashofclans. You select Include and add com.rovio.angrybirds in Additional Bundle IDs. Now all three bundles are blocked - the two from the list plus Angry Birds.
Block + Exclude
Additional bundles are removed from the block list. They are allowed through despite the block.
Example: Your Block list blocks all gaming apps, but the advertiser has a special deal with Angry Birds. Select Exclude and add com.rovio.angrybirds. The block list still applies to everything else, but Angry Birds traffic comes through.
White + Include
Additional bundles are added to the white list. They receive traffic alongside the main list.
Example: Your White list "News Apps" allows traffic from com.bbc.news and com.cnn.mobile. You select Include and add com.reuters.app. Now the advertiser will receive traffic from all three bundles.
White + Exclude
Additional bundles are removed from the white list. They are blocked despite being on the white list.
Example: Your White list allows all news apps, but you want to stop traffic from one specific app. Select Exclude and add com.tabloid.daily. The white list continues to allow all other news apps, but that one is blocked.

Notes
- Global lists remain unchanged. Include/Exclude overrides apply only to the specific source/campaign.
- The same logic applies to Domain lists, App Name lists, Creative ID lists, Zip Codes lists, Adomain lists, DMA Code lists and Bundle ID lists.
- If no additional bundles are specified, the Include/Exclude radio has no effect - the global list applies as-is.
